BMAF Honorary Secretary

Role Overview

This role ensures a central point for all correspondence both into and out of BMAF from all sources is dealt with promptly and efficiently. It also provides Secretarial support to the BMAF Executive Team.

The role is appointed annually at the AGM and is a member of the BMAF Executive Team.

Anticipated Time Commitment:

8-10 hours per week on average.

Role Description: (this is indicative only)

  • To be a central point to receive and respond to all enquiries to BMAF – in collaboration with or by forwarding to others as appropriate.
  • To arrange and administer BMAF Executive Meetings at least four times per year. Including preparation of the Agenda, circulation of papers and production and circulation of minutes.  
  • To attend Council  Meetings as required.
  • To liaise regularly with the Executive and event organisers e.g. Rule changes and similar matters.
  • To arrange and administer the AGM including giving notice to Clubs and members, booking a venue where necessary, distributing papers and taking minutes.
  • To represent BMAF at AGM’s of outside affiliated bodies as relevant and give feedback e.g. EA, UKA Sport and Leisure Alliance etc.
  • Communicate with European and World Masters Athletics Councils advising on BMAF Delegates/ Team Managers etc.


To be fully effective in this role it is envisaged that you will have:

  • Good IT skills
  • Excellent communication Skills.
  • Good organisational skills
  • A passion for the sport.

Anyone wishing to stand for any of these positions must obtain a nomination from either the Council (representatives from the 11 Constituent Associations and Clubs), the Executive, or the Committee of any Constituent Association or Club. Anyone seeking a nomination from the Council should contact its Chairman or anyone seeking a nomination from the Executive should contact its Honorary Secretary Bridget Cushen Each request for nomination should be submitted in time for consideration by one of the above mentioned bodies and the names of any nominees then submitted to the Honorary Secretary no later than 28th October.
